What makes Carlton Towers special
Architecture and scale. The house was designed by Edward Welby Pugin (son of the more famous A.W.N. Pugin who worked on the Houses of Parliament) and it shows. Every room has period details worth capturing — the chapel, the dining hall, the minstrels' gallery. But it's not a museum. The venue team run weddings here that are genuinely fun, and the house becomes a backdrop to a celebration rather than the main event. That balance is exactly what I look for as a filmmaker.
Filming at Carlton Towers
This venue is a filmmaker's dream. The interiors deliver rich, atmospheric footage — the chapel's stained glass creates beautiful coloured light, the dining hall has real presence, and the staircase is made for cinematic entrances. Outside, the 250 acres of parkland give drone footage that shows the full grandeur of the setting. It's one of those venues where every frame looks expensive.
