Venue Spotlight

Wedding Videographer at Colwick Hall Hotel, Nottingham — Gothic Grandeur on Film

Colwick Hall Hotel is one of those venues that makes an immediate impression. Georgian architecture, extensive grounds, and a sense of occasion that most venues spend years trying to cultivate. It's also one of the most filmed venues in the East Midlands — which means I've seen it at its best and at its worst, depending on who was behind the camera.

Wedding videographer at Colwick Hall Hotel Nottingham

I've filmed at Colwick Hall Hotel twice now, and both times it's reminded me why Nottingham is such a strong wedding destination. The light in the main hall during the ceremony is extraordinary — that combination of tall windows and high ceilings that only Georgian architecture seems to achieve.

What Colwick Hall Offers for Film

The exterior of Colwick Hall is imposing in the best way — that red brick Georgian facade reads beautifully on video, particularly with the grounds in the background. The driveway approach is one of the best arrival moments I've filmed at any venue, and I've used it as a central visual thread in the highlight films I've made there.

Inside, the main hall has excellent acoustics for ceremonies and speeches. The chandeliers, the paint colours, the proportions of the rooms — Colwick Hall clearly had film in mind when it was restored, even if that wasn't literally the case. Everything works on camera.

Filming There from Cleethorpes

I'm based in Cleethorpes, about 90 minutes from Nottingham with no traffic, similar to my Sheffield and Doncaster coverage. No travel fees for Nottingham weddings. Both times I've filmed at Colwick Hall I've arrived the day before or early on the morning to scout the light — which is something I do for all major venues regardless of distance.

The Colwick Hall team are experienced and professional — they know how to run a wedding day without the fumbles that can make less experienced venues stressful. That makes a real difference to the film. A relaxed, well-run day produces a better film every time.

Who Should Book Colwick Hall

Colwick Hall attracts couples who want the prestige of a historic venue without the stuffiness that can sometimes come with it. The architecture is grand but the atmosphere is genuinely warm. If that's what you're looking for, it's worth seeing the venue in person — and worth having a videographer who knows how to capture both aspects.

If you're planning a wedding at Colwick Hall and want to see examples of my previous work there, get in touch — I'll send you links to full highlight films from both weddings. Or simply fill out the enquiry form and I'll come back to you within 48 hours.
