Why Louth is brilliant for weddings
Louth doesn't try to be anything it's not. It's a working market town with a proud history, beautiful architecture, and access to some of the loveliest countryside in Lincolnshire. For couples who want a wedding that feels authentic rather than Instagram-optimised, Louth is perfect.
The Lincolnshire Wolds — an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty — surround the town. Rolling chalk hills, hidden valleys, ancient woodland, and big skies. For outdoor portraits and drone footage, the Wolds are hard to beat. And the town itself provides beautiful backdrops: the medieval church with its soaring spire, the cobbled streets, the historic market place.
Louth area wedding venues
Here are the Louth and Lincolnshire Wolds venues I've filmed at or have on my wish list:
The Priory Hotel
A beautiful former coaching inn in the heart of Louth with a stunning courtyard, elegant function rooms, and a warm, welcoming team. The Priory has that perfect balance of town convenience and rural charm — guests can explore Louth's independent shops and cafes, while the wedding itself feels intimate and special. The courtyard is lovely for outdoor receptions in summer.
The Old Manor
A stunning country house venue just outside Louth with beautiful grounds, a lake, and accommodation for guests. The Old Manor is one of the most complete wedding venues in Lincolnshire — ceremony space, reception rooms, gardens, and overnight stays all in one location. As a filmmaker, the variety of spaces means I can capture completely different looks within a single day.
Lincolnshire Wolds barn venues
The Wolds are dotted with beautiful barn venues — converted farm buildings with character, space, and stunning views. Many are family-run, which means personal service and flexibility that larger venues can't match. The rural setting means dark skies for evening shots, beautiful golden hour light, and backdrops that look like they're from a period drama.
St James' Church, Louth
The tallest parish church spire in England — and a magnificent setting for a wedding ceremony. The interior is beautiful, with stunning stained glass and a sense of scale that makes ceremonies feel genuinely special. The church is right in the town centre, which makes it easy for guests and provides lovely walking-shot opportunities through Louth's historic streets.
Filming style in Louth
Louth weddings suit my documentary style perfectly. The relaxed pace means couples are genuinely present in their day. The rural settings provide natural beauty without needing to stage anything. And the warmth of the people — the couple's families, the venue staff, the guests — creates an atmosphere that's a joy to capture.
I arrive early, scout the light, and work with whatever the day gives me. Wolds weather is typically kind — the area has its own microclimate that often means better weather than the coast. When the sun shines, the chalk hills glow. When it's overcast, the soft light is perfect for portraits.
Investment
One clear package for all weddings — Louth and the Lincolnshire Wolds included. No travel fees for venues within an hour of my Cleethorpes base. No tiers, no hidden costs, no upselling. Just one filmmaker and a film that captures your day as it really was.
